At the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, Haile Gerima will be honoured with a Berlinale Camera for his outstanding contributions to filmmaking.
The honour coincides with the world premiere of "Black Lions – Roman Wolves," his nearly ten-hour, five-part documentary on Ethiopia's resistance against fascist Italy (1935–1941) — financed entirely outside commercial studio and institutional funding systems.
Decades in the making, "Black Lions – Roman Wolves" screens in Berlinale Forum on Feb 16–18.
