The launch was led by Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the government ministry responsible for Ghana's tourism, culture and creative arts portfolio.

According to a ministry statement reported by Ghana News Agency, Ghana's state-owned news agency, the revised policy updates the country's cultural policy for current national and global conditions, including the creative economy, technology, cultural tourism, youth empowerment, cultural education, and the protection of tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

The ministry presents the revised policy as a national instrument for cultural institutions, creative entrepreneurs, cultural diversity, national identity, and Ghana's cultural and creative sectors.
