Makgano Mamabolo and Yemi Oyefuwa Selected for European Showrunner Training 2026

South African showrunner Makgano Mamabolo and UK writer Yemi Oyefuwa are among 12 writers selected for the fifth edition of European Showrunner Training, a six-month initiative run by ifs Internationale Filmschule Köln in Cologne.

South African filmmaker, showrunner, and head writer Makgano Mamabolo and UK TV and film writer Yemi Oyefuwa are among the 12 writers selected for the fifth edition of European Showrunner Training, the six-month professional initiative run by ifs Internationale Filmschule Köln, a film and media school in Cologne, Germany.

Mamabolo's credits include "MTV Shuga Mashariki" and "Society" seasons 1 and 2. Oyefuwa's credits include "Dreaming Whilst Black," "Fool Me Once," "Supacell," and "Boarders."

The 2026 cohort brings together experienced series writers for online sessions and three in-person modules in Cologne. The training covers creative leadership, series production, artificial intelligence, and sustainable production practice for writers moving toward showrunner roles.

European Showrunner Training is part of the European Showrunner Programme, funded by Creative Europe – MEDIA, the European Union's audiovisual support programme, and supported by FOCAL, a Swiss foundation for film and audiovisual training. The 2026 edition is led by Danish writer-showrunner Jeppe Gjervig Gram, whose credits include "Borgen" and "Follow the Money."

The full 2026 cohort includes Eric Andreae, Judit Anna Banhazi, Sina Flammang, João Lacerda Matos, Victor Lockwood, Makgano Mamabolo, Rodrigo Ordóñez, Christina Øster, Yemi Oyefuwa, Katharina Ruß, Maja Todorović, and Christian Wehrlin.
