Microtone, a new discovery and community platform focused on microdrama, has launched, aiming to provide a centralised hub for fans of short-form vertical series to track, rate, review and discover content across multiple apps.

Developed by Screenburn, the media-tech startup founded by the team behind Metrotone Studios, the platform aggregates titles from services including ReelShort, DramaBox, ShortMax, GoodShort, FlexTV and KukuTV. Each listing links users to the originating platform, positioning Microtone as a discovery layer rather than a competitor.

The launch comes amid rapid growth in the microdrama sector. Industry estimates presented by Omdia at recent market events suggest global revenues reached approximately $11bn in 2025 and are forecast to climb to $14bn by 2026.

Amid this growth, the market is fragmented, with content spread across multiple apps and platforms. Microtone seeks to address this by offering cross-platform discovery tools, including searchable catalogues, user watchlists, ratings and reviews, and browsing by genre, platform and trending activity. The functionality mirrors established consumer platforms in adjacent sectors, but is tailored to short-form vertical drama.

Microtone is available now via its web app. Duncan JA Dick, CMO of Screenburn, said: “Microdrama has the potential to be the next revolution in scripted entertainment. We believe Microtone will help drive that revolution from the point of view of the people who matter most: its exponentially growing community of creators, fans and viewers. Their passion is the engine of this new format’s incredible growth.”
