The 2025 feature debut of Akinola Davies Jr. (co-written with Wale Davies) premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes, where it earned a Caméra d'Or Special Mention.

The film went on to win the Gold Hugo (Special Mention) in Chicago, the Rampa Award in Seville, and a Special Jury Award in India.

It received 12 nominations at the British Independent Film Awards, winning Best Director for Davies, and later picked up two Gotham Awards for Breakthrough Director and Outstanding Lead Performance (Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù).
