Sudu Connexion, the pan-African sales and distribution company, has acquired the short animated film "Sundruð" (Hold It Together) by French-Malian director Fan Sissoko.
The deal was announced at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where the film is having its world premiere today, Tuesday, June 23, with the crew in attendance.
"Sundruð" follows Neema, a young immigrant in Iceland, on her weekly trips to the swimming pool, where she undergoes a series of unexpected transformations that keep her from forming bonds with the people around her.
The film is an international co-production between Compass Films (Heather Millard, Iceland), Komawé (Stéphanie Launay, France), and Artémis Productions (Julien Melebeck, Belgium).
The cast includes Grace Seri ("Le Bleu Blanc Rouge de Mes Cheveux," Jozsa Anjembe), Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir ("Woman at War," 2018), and Yves-Marina Gnahoua ("Omen," Baloji).
The production received support from the Icelandic Film Centre, France's CNC – Centre National du Cinéma et de l'Image Animée, the Film and Audiovisual Centre of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Creative Europe MEDIA, Iceland's Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing, Procirep, Angoa, and the Tax Shelter incentive of the Belgian federal government.
Sudu Connexion had previously represented Sissoko and her short film "On the Surface," which received a Special Mention at the 2022 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
