East Africa-focused African Film Festival accepting submissions for short films filmed at least partially in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, DRC or Kenya. Festival held 12 December 2026. Free earlybird submissions. All programmers are African.

Format

Short films (under 45 minutes)

Eligibility

Films must be at least partially filmed in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, DRC or Kenya. Exceptions for films written and directed by citizens of those countries, filmed abroad. Completed no earlier than 1 September 2025. Runtime under 45 minutes.

Insider Tips

All programmers are African — stories that speak authentically to East African experience have the strongest case. Films in local languages are welcome. Submit earlybird (by 8 May) to avoid fees.
