REALSCREEN SUMMIT SHOWDOWN

The Realscreen Summit Showdown is the international pitch competition of the Realscreen Summit — the world's largest gathering for unscripted and non-fiction entertainment professionals, held annually in Miami. Producers worldwide submit documentary/unscripted series concepts and compete for a USD 20,000 development deal with a major US broadcaster. In recent years, winning networks included Food Network, NBC, and A+E Networks. In 2026, NATPE Global co-located with Realscreen, adding a scripted pitch strand. Over 1,800 delegates from 50+ countries attended the 2026 edition.

Deadline

2026 Summit: passed (January/February 2026). NEXT CALL: opens approximately November 2026.

Cost

FREE to submit. Finalists must register as delegates for the Summit (accreditation fee applies).

Format

Primarily unscripted documentary series. The NATPE Global scripted strand (launched 2026) also covers scripted drama. African documentary stories — wildlife, culture, history, social issues — are particularly compelling for US broadcasters.

Eligibility

Producers and content creators worldwide. Unscripted/non-fiction series concept required. Finalists must attend the Summit in person.

What You Get

USD 20,000 development deal with a major US broadcaster (recent winners pitched to Food Network, NBC, A+E) — a real commission for further development, not just a prize.

What to Submit

Application entry form + signed submission release + 3-minute video sizzle reel or video pitch + 1-page paper pitch. Must read the creative brief for the target network before submitting.
