What You Get
Selected films compete for Golden Dove awards, which qualify winners for ACADEMY AWARDS® nomination (International Competition Documentary and Animated Short). Feature-length documentaries by European filmmakers are eligible for the European Film Award. DOK Leipzig also recommends selected documentary premieres to the Academy. No specific funding amounts are stated on this page.

Insider Tips
- Ensure your film has not had a public screening before 1 October 2025 to qualify as a German premiere, which is required for film entries. 2. Apply early across multiple relevant categories (e.g. both Film Entries and Co-Pro Market if in development) as most deadlines converge on 1 July 2026. 3. For Co-Pro Market or Animation Lab entries, have a feature-length or series project ready with clear international audience appeal to meet the stated criteria.
